How to play a game

How to play a game of AOC on IGZones:

1. Join the lobby you wish to play in this can be done by choosing from the list in the change of find another game If your are choosing to ‘host’ the game then press settings and amend the details to show the game you wish to host and play.

2. When in the lobby you may choose to either ‘host’ or ‘join’ a game. If you are ’joining’ a game, on entering check the game settings that the host has posted, this will give you more information about what game you are about to play. If you don’t like the setting ask host to change of find another game If your are choosing to ‘host’ the game then press settings and amend the details to show the game you wish to host and play.

Setting up a game

Game title: this is the name that will be published in the lobby.

Password: If you wish to have you room password protected, enter a word here. If no password required leave black. To remove a password previously entered just delete it.

Game Description: Enter any further information about you game here

Game population: Choose from the drop down box how many players you require to play the game 1 being minimum 8 being maximum.

Rated Game: As host you can choose whether a game is to be played rated or none rated – if game is rated check box and insert. To play none rated check box and remove tick.

Clan only: If you are part of a clan and would like only clan members to be able to join your room check this box.

Anti-Cheat Protection: This box should remain checked to disallow cheats.

Save: When happy with your settings press save or cancel to cancel all of above.

3. When the required amount of players have entered the room the host will press the ‘LAUNCH’ button and you will be taken to the ‘Game Settings’ screen within AOC.
Game Settings:

Game: Choose game type i.e. random map, death match or scenario etc.
Map style: Choose the particular map you wish to host.

Location: If not default with a map you may pick location.

Size: If not default with a map you may choose map size.

Difficulty: Choose difficulty of game.

Resources: Choose resources either high medium or low.

Game Speed: Choose whether to play the game fast moderate or slow.

Reveal Map: Here you can choose whether you play the map all visible so all players can be seen, explored – just shows you team or normal – you can see you team but map needs to be explored.

Starting Age: Choose which starting age the game should be started at.

Victory: Here may choose which victory type the game will be played to.

Team Together: This will team up the players. If ‘?’ (Random) is chosen as all players’ teams the game will make even teams.

Lock Teams: If checked players will remain in their starting teams all game. If unchecked a player will be able to change teams in the game.

All Techs: If checked all technologies will be available to all civilisations. If unchecked only the techs particular to a civilisation will be available.

Lock Speed: Same speed chosen earlier will remain throughout the game.

Allow Cheats: If checked will allow some game inbuilt cheats to be used – make sure this is unchecked at start of the game.

Record Game: If unchecked game will not be recorded – if playing a rating game always make sure this is checked.

I’m Ready: When a player has chosen their civilisation, colour (if applicable) and team they should check this box to show they are happy with settings etc. There details will turn green and the option to change will be removed. To change you settings you must first uncheck I’m Ready. Until all players have checked this box the host cannot launch the game.

Start Game: When all players are ready host will launch the game.
